Wow! nicely done - did you do the neb in apophysis? What kind of settings do you use?

thank you!

Yes I did use Apo, as for settings, I use the basic start up settings and first render random fractals. Once I find one with a lot going on I reset that one to spherical and that usually gives me something decent, I render 4-5 at high quality (dont remember exact settings), but high pixel, etc and blend them together. It's a lot of trial and error at times.

Fractal feels like it could have been painted into a little more, but still, lovely colours :D

Well there's your problem! :D
It just feels a little too much like you grabbed the render, chucked it in, and were happy with it. I'm assuming that's pretty much what happened :P

Actually those are about 5 renders blended together.

Sweet. The thumb just hints at an even cooler picture, it'd be a shame to see some potential missed.

Great colour choice, makes it colourful but realistic and it's one of the most nicest use of fractals in a nebula I've seen in a while, looks lik fragments of gas have been been absolutely shredded by a long exploded star 8-)

The neb is really great. Apo? The star field could use some work though, it looks a bit flat and cluttered I think. :+fav: though ;-)

Yes Apo, and the star field is purposely cluttered, I'm trying to mirror NASA style images, and well, I'm sure you've seen some where if you tried to count the stars you would be at it for a while ;)

True that. Lookin' out your window at night is usually enough ;)

From an aesthetic point of view it's more difficult though. I think you've succeeded well though. :)

That I try to, everyone finds their niche for their art, and well the whole reason I got into space art was looking at those NASA photos.

How do you go about rendering such amazing fractals in Apo though? Like everyone tells me I try the spherical transformation, but I only get very swirly fractals, they might do for aesthetics, but they're not very realistic. Take a look for instance on [link]

Well I use the most basic aspect of the program to do it. All I do once I open up the program is look through the 100 random generated renders that the program gives you, and when I find one with a lot going on I transform that into a spherical variation, which most of the time gives me something I could work with. One render doesn't give me a good nebula, usually a combination of 3-4 does. Once I find something I like I adjust it's settings to make it look good as possible and I usually render them at about 3700 px by whatever the other fixed size gives me, at a quality of about 1200-1500, less than an hour of render time for my system. If you need tips on getting a group of flares flowing with each other, check this out: [link]

Hope it helps :D

Thanks for the tip, basically how I've done it. It's possible I just don't have the eye for it yet :-p

And Synax tutorial is great, I've made test nebulas using his fractals - blending and incorporating them isn't the problem - rendering the fractals are.

Thanks again though for the tips :)
