Planet Exploration Series: Ruku-III
Addendum / After-Inquiry Report/ UNSE1-Spec Ops, File JUH-8876D Subject: Lt. Ruku Singh Investigation Status: ONGOING CODE: REDYTGIUJNMOKLUJRFTGBKJNLM16578IHG8574568GJVKJ FUNCTION: [Unseal the Hushed Casket] [Admonition] The following document is as accurate as possible from the sources provided. Information origins include: - Damaged NAV stat from Gettysburg Corvette2 [COMPLETE] - Voice journals from Lt. Ruku Singh [SUSPECT] - Blue-shift from GC Supercomputer [VARIABLE] --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- [[] The transmission log takes place between October 18, 2091 (Sol Calender) \ Aboard Gettysburg Corvette, Passing Sol VI (Mars) & November 29, 2091 (Sol Calender) \ Aboard Gettysburg Corvette, Whereabouts Unknown []] [[] The following is excerpts of Lt. Ruku Singhs voice journal aboard Gettysburg Corvette, medical opinions are not yet available. []] <Day 3>Why did I even take this mission? You know, thats something Ive asked myself even before I set off. My wife was furious at me for this, but Ive told her, you know me How I was growing up, space exploration is apart of me and always will be. The researchers told me, beyond our system there was a great chance of life, a planet, one which showed high prospects of life, and I signed on without thinking it through. One regrettable mistake.</end> <Day 8>You know the one thing I wish we had more time to work around was the fact its only me here Im the only one Why? Resources! Our technology has only taken us so far. The equipment, the resources needed to sustain it, the power generation, having more people would cause a disaster, besides Neptunes Keck3 Orbital station should allow me to re-supply and also pick up another UNSE researcher, so I guess in the end this isnt a one man mission Who knew </end> <Day 15>There may be a problem before I even reach Keck, power systems seem to be draining the Sub-alloy Hybrid Battery Systems4 at 3 times the projected rate. Hell, I even took the first of 5 batteries apart to check for any damage and what do I find, a 3-inch crack in the core wall, how could this have been overlooked, or worse, how could this have formed since launch. Im going to have to conserve power to great lengths now. I really do miss you Hasley5, what I would do to be back on Earth.</end> <Day 20>This is getting worse, Im approaching Keck, about 10 days out, but theres 2 major problems that may scarp the mission and me. Power, power, power, Im running out of power. Ive already shut down all external research tools, boy are the researchers at home going to receive some broken data, but thats of no concern of me. Gauges are down. Hell all I have left is passive scanners, the hailing system for Keck and life support, and Im afraid if the second problem occurs Im doomed. Whats the second problem? Saturn My inability to track my course to the finite of details may push me too close to the giant and in turn completely alter my course sending me into the dark bowels of undocumented space have I found God from this threat Yes, but I feel as if [static] cant help me </end> <Day 29>Why is this happening to me? Saturn has, from what I can tell with limited equipment altered the Corvette, but trajectories indicate I am still headed to this unknown planet, coined as XJY-116, what are the odds of that? I was told that I am given the honour to name it Well I call it Hmmm, not sure as of yet, but soon. You know what I realized, this is it for me, Im not going to make it out of this alive, all thatll be left of me is this journal, of my thoughts and opinions yet </end> <Day 40>Power levels are at 5%, do I just sit here and wait for the inevitable? Or do the one thing that can give closure to my family Use the remaining energy to piggy back my voice logs and the only image I was able to get of the unknown planet with the onboard reflecting lens system onto a hailing freq to Keck despite the fact that itll drain whatevers left of the battery. So I guess I end this saying, I was born to explore space and I will die doing what I love If this gets through I want to name the unknown planet Ruku III I love you Hasley, always, and tell [classified] that his dad is exploring the heavens Prosit</end> [Transfer: Grid-Kilo 2-11: Hailing Frequency: 47832 Hz KECK 877U] [ENCL: System Voice Logs \ Optics System Image Cache: 1] - [Emergency Systems: Offline \ Life Support Systems: Offline] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1UNSE: United Nations Space Exploration 2 Gettysburg Corvette; classified as a light space exploration craft listed with many of the current date technologies, previous issue Lt. Ruku Singh; current whereabouts: unknown. 3Keck Orbital Station: Commissioned in 2057 in response to the growing need for a long range antenna system that can allow optics systems to gaze into deep space with an effective rate of 4.57 x 10*34 of the Hubble Space system. Currently houses 7 UNSE researchers. 4 Sub-alloy Hybrid Battery System: Designed in response to over consumption of Earths natural fossil reserves, 99.99% cleaner than 20th century Petroleum products. 5Hasley: Lt. R. Singhs Wife, current whereabouts: Untracked 6 XJY-11: Previous name given; now called Ruku III [/end document] Check out: Info Pad 1 Info Pad 2 Info Pad 3 Info Pad 5 Info Pad 6 |
